Frank Wilder is an interdisciplinary artist specialising in 3D sculpting, rendering and animation. With a background in sculpting Frank also crafts what he refers to as “Totems” at all scales.
A “Totem” is defined as :
“A PORTAL INTO THE TRANSCENDENT. CREATED WITH PRECIOUS METAL & GEMS. TO BE KEPT CLOSE, AS A REMINDER AND MEANS OF PROTECTION.”
We asked Frank what first what first attracted him to NFT creation, he stated,
“I was introduced to NFTs in 2017 from none other than Medici Wilder. He was working for ConsenSys at the time and they held a private event at my space the Fact0ry in San Francisco. It was during this time that I became privy of CryptoKitties and the interesting potential overlap with Blockchain technology and Art. Fast forward to 2018 and Medici reached out asking to commission some artworks for the 2018 Ethereal Summit. I in turn created a custom collection to go up for auction titled “Cash is Dead, Crypto is King”. The collection consisted of my Dead Benji Bust equipped with an Ethereum chain. The work auctioned for $5,500. Following this I’ve always kept a close eye on the space and began working on a new CryptoArt project I look forward to sharing later this year.”
In 2013 Wilder moved to San Francisco and started to embrace technology in his artistic practice. Coming from a background in traditional sculpting Wilder started to see the benefits of 3D printing and pioneered a technique using 3D printing and the ancient practice of lost wax casting to bring his Totems to life.
Frank rose to prominence upon creating art for the likes of Justin Bieber, Alicia Keys and Kevin Durant to name a few. This has led to global recognition and art sales in over 100 countries. With a shift to fully embrace the future and blockchain technology Frank and his team are now solely focused to help build the digital artists guild of the future known as the “Wilder Guild” along with creating legendary NFTs. Breaking on to the NFT scene in 2017 Frank auctioned his first digital/physical artwork at the Ethereal Summit in 2018. Since Frank has co created a global art gallery in augmented reality titled Wilder World. The inspiration for this project came from “The Heist” a worldwide treasure hunt the Frank and Phoenix Wilder spawned, travelling across the globe to leave their sculptures on building tops for friends of Frank to capture.
Once referred to as the Banksy of the Blockchain, Frank Wilder is a Sculptor of the Future. This holds both a metaphorical and literal representation as Wilder and his guild are leading the new frontier of crypto art. The subject matter of Frank’s work is at the intersection of Nature, Technology, Ancient Myth and Pop culture. Blending these ideas creates Frank’s awe striking aesthetic along with delivering timeless and relevant works.
Some of Frank’s recent NFTs include:
“Cyber Renaissance” Collection 001 on MakersPlace – Sold out.
Including works “The Corona Lisa”, “The Dead Benji” and “David Vs the Virus”.
The Cyber Renaissance represents a true rebirth of art, culture and technology. Often when we think of the Renaissance, people such as Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Shakespeare come to mind. Artists whose work has transcended space and time… Fast forward five centuries and we’re living in a much different world, a Cyber world where almost everything around us is digital. The emergence of new and ever evolving technologies allow us to expand beyond our senses and perceptions in this 3D reality. When you envision the future what do you see? Let this collection of art be a reminder not to let your past hold you back and imagine all that the future holds. In true Wilder fashion, this collection embodies the past, present and future.
“The Simulation” Collection 002 on MakersPlace – Two pieces still for auction.
Including works “Red Pill” and “Blue Pill”
“A work of art is completed by the viewer” artist Marcel Duchamp once said. If an artwork is completed by the viewer this is a collaborative effort between myself and you. In a world that no longer understands left from right, we bring to you “The Simulation”. A timely experiment from the Wilders. You can take the blue pill, wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe, 2020 never happened and we return to normal. Or, you can take the red pill. We stay in wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. The purpose of this collection is to crowdsource votes via bids on what ideology has more prominence.
“Memetic Wave” Collection 003 on MakersPlace – One sold, two to be released week on 2 of Jan 2021.
There has only been one release so far called Satoshi’s Revenge inspired by bitcoins recent ATH. The next two drops are titled “RIP Ripple” and “Vitalik’s Victory”.
This collection dives deeper into the origin of memes and how they were deprived from the study of Memetics. An exploration on how information is proliferated and spread throughout culture. Elon Musk once tweeted “Who controls the memes, controls the Universe”. I guess you could say this collection is for the galactic meme lords then.
We are delighted to introduce Frank Wilder to our platform and are very much looking forward to seeing more of his work in future.
