People are starting to wake up to the fact that collecting digital art is fast becoming hot property. Digital Artist, Beeple (also known as Mike Winkelmann), is currently trail blasting this initiative this weekend, selling his work on Gemini-backed crypto art marketplace Nifty Gateway.
Prior to looking into Beeple’s sales, it is significant to note that he has created new art pieces everyday for over 13 years. What a remarkable feat!
Now, to amaze you further, Beeple is selling unique blockchain collectibles through non-fungible tokens. Such is the demand from collectors that three open edition NFTs (titled Bull Run, Into The Ether and Infected) generated $582,000 in only five minutes!
Just as incredible, some of Beeple’s art pieces are already on sale on secondary markets for significantly more marked up values. The current demand for such work is really strong trending, with total values already surpassing $1 million including secondary sales. There are still numerous art sales of his to be auctioned and finalised.
Owners of Beeple’s work will receive both a digital and corresponding physical versions that are encased in plastic and play a re-looped sequence of the art piece.
The current drop of Beeple’s artwork is his second on Nifty Gateway. He released pieces earlier this year, including an animation named Crossroad that would change depending on the result of the US presidential election. This piece sold for $66,000. Pieces still to be released this weekend include Spongebob Hillarypants that features US politician Hillary Clinton in a Spongebob Squarepants mech suit.
This is anticipated to go for a vast sum.
